Are you considering doing yoga? or maybe you are eye rolling me because you are tired of hearing about yoga. Either way you’re here for some reason haha, you must be curious about the benefits of yoga. You may be thinking some of these are obvious, but you’d be surprised how many people have pre determined thoughts on yoga that stop them from giving it a shot. Which brings me to my first point!

Flexibility

I don’t know how many people I’ve seen/heard say that they can’t do yoga because they are not flexible enough. GET OUT OF HERE WITH THAT! Sorry for yelling, but you get flexible by working on it. Yoga is amazing for stretching and gaining flexibility. That was the main reason I started doing yoga! It’s amazing what stretching can do for stress!

Strength

Another obvious, but again many people don’t consider yoga to be a super strengthening type of workout, until they actually try it. So many people have mentioned, especially men who try it for the first time, how hard it actually was. Yoga is more than just stretching and flexibility. Just because you are mainly using your bodyweight to strengthen muscles, definitely doesn’t discredit yoga in terms of gaining strength.

A sense of peace

For many people, a yoga workout can bring about a sense of peace. It allows you to get out of your head and focus on you and your body. I personally feel it has a lot to do with the breath, and how you sequence it with your poses. The breath, or pranayama, is what calms the mind and body. When combined with stress relieving yoga poses, it’s a great recipe for a sense of peace and calmness.

Clarity

Similar to a sense of peace, when you work out and get out of your head, I think you are able to become more clear on things. Taking time to yourself without outside distractions, just you in your own space can really help you become clear on on a direction you may need to take. Maybe you realize, you want to change something or start doing things differently. Yoga is great for allowing you the mental space and clarity to really make decisions that are best for YOU.

Discipline like never before

Once you get into the habit of doing yoga consistently, that alone involves a ton of discipline. Making time for yoga can be hard but if you make it work, you can see that you can be disciplined. What I enjoy about yoga is there are so many different poses and ways to flow that it is always fun and interesting. There is always something I can work on and improve, which helps with practicing discipline. This can flow into other areas of your life as well, where you will find it easier to stay on track with other goals.

New Friendships

If you are practicing in a studio, you will likely eventually make new friends with others who also go often. It’s a nice way to meet people who have a common interest. Because most people going to yoga are trying to better themselves and focusing on their mental health, most of them are super fun and interesting people. Even if you are practicing at home, if you are on instagram or online to find inspiration- you can make new friends that way as well!

Healthier Choices

I feel like a lot of people, when they start consistently working out in some way, find themselves wanting to make other positive and healthier choices. I found myself wanting to eat healthier, or at least try to make better choices overall. Its a slow trickling effect, but eventually you’ll want to improve other areas of your life.

Stress Relief

This was one of the main reasons I continue to practice yoga. If I am feeling anxious and stressed, I try to force myself to get up and do at least 15 minutes of yoga. It never fails me, I always feel better and life feels a little less heavy.

I challenge you to give yoga a shot! Give it a full two weeks, see how you feel afterwards. I am planning to have a yoga challenge for beginners coming up on the blog, it’ll be a perfect way to introduce you to yoga. Just sign up for my email list, and I’ll be sure to notify you when it’s up and going!

That’s the fact yoga brings flexibility to your body. No one gets flexible body by their own, instead they practice yoga as a daily habit. And also along with flexibility it would help you to see other magic happening with your body and health. GOOD POST!
